THE VIII EDITION, 2004 dedicated to the "Grazia Difforme" [DISFIGURED GRACE], is a look at the nonconformist horizons of the Theatre (and of Art in general), particularly with regard to forms, and to their essence as structures of representation and interpretation of reality. Far from expecting to change reality, the Theatre, like all other arts, can however help to generate new ways of looking at it.... It may, as Eduardo De Filippo used to say, "unmask reality".... It may prevent it from laying down the law on History and the Future. The fact that Commedia dell'Arte, the Theatre of the Masks, is becoming the point of reference of reality-unmasking artistic trends is in itself an interesting paradox.
